Under One Sun: benefit for Puerto Rico

Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild is proud to sponsor this event!  It’s a family friendly free-for-all featuring a trio of storytellers and a quartet of musical acts on November 12th from 2 to 4 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 East Market Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.

All proceeds will go to UNIDOS, the Hispanic Federation’s Puerto Rico Relief initiative.

Charles Kiernan, Ingrid Bohn and Judy England-McCarthy will tell stories  with warmth, welcome and wit.

Chiles’ Play a children’s song writing duo, Today, We Fight with Peace, a father/daughter duo, Tom and Betty Druckenmiller, an old time music pair and Closer, a classic rock band, will keep your toes tapping and your fingers snapping.

Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under, and $35 maximum for families of 2 adults and 2 or more children.  So bring the whole family.

Sherman Theater Kids’ Series – Larry Sceurman

On Saturday, November 4th, at 2 pm, Larry Sceurman will tell stories to kids of all ages at the Sherman Theater at 522 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA, 18360.

The Sherman Theater’s second event in its new Kids’ Series is set for Saturday, November 4 at 2:00 PM at Sherman Showcase, 522 Main Street, Stroudsburg. This six-part series features singer/songwriters and storytellers from across the country offering family-friendly entertainment.

Performing on November 4, storyteller Larry Sceurman, brings heartfelt stories and magical tales to Pocono children. He will spin a variety of folk tales, fairy tales, moral tales and personal stories appropriate for all ages.

As part of the Fine Arts Discovery Series of the Sherman Theater, this show is open to the public at no charge, however donations will be accepted. The Kids’ Series was developed to provide an opportunity for children in the northeastern Pennsylvania community to enjoy arts and culture.

The Sherman Theater Kids’ Series is underwritten in part by the Lester G. Abeloff Foundation, Marilyn Coles, and First Keystone Community Bank. Story Slam – Here We Go Again!

Lehigh Valley Story Slam starts the New Year right, with the theme of “Here We Go Again”.  Do you have a short TRUE story about things that repeat themselves, themes that recur, favorite amusement park rides, slippery, slidey slopes you just can’t resist?  Bring it to the Lehigh Valley Story Slam at McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whisky Bar in Bethlehem on January 18th.  OR, just come out to listen to others tell of their repeating adventures. The fun begins at 8 pm.  Stories must be no longer than 5 minutes and they must be as true!

America on Wheels

Ingrid Bohn will regale all comers at America on Wheels, The Lehigh Valley’s museum of all things automotive, on November 27th, at 1 pm.  The museum is a lot of fun and Ingrid will steer you onto the road of adventure with her theatrical presentation.

Grand Slam – Lehigh Valley Story Slam

The Grand Slam event – where past Story Slam winners compete for the Grand Slam Trophy – will be held at McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar on November 16th.  The stories begin at 8 pm.  The theme for the Grand Slam Story Slam is “FOOD”.  Fitting, yes?

All stories must be true and no longer than 5 minutes.  The tellers for the Grand Slam event have proven their worthiness.  Let’s hear what they say about food.

Mark Twain Reflects

Charles Kiernan will channel America’s favorite storyteller when he presents “Mark Twain Reflects” at 7 pm on September 25th at the Otto Bruyns Public Library in Northfield, NJ, 241 W. Mill Road, Northfield, NJ, 08225

Kiernan’s remarkable storytelling, his close physical resemblance to Twain, and his sense of humor will all be on display at this event.

Northeast Ministry Street Fair

LVSG members are thrilled to help Northeast Ministry provide an afternoon of fun, stories and mime to families in Bethlehem.  The event is free to all comers and will take place on Friday, June 17th, from 3:30 to 7:30 pm at 1161 Fritz Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

Ingrid Bohn – Children’s Storytelling Series

Ingrid, a whip smart whirlwind of a storyteller, will entertain children of all ages with her energetic stories.  Admission is $4.50 and children 5 years old and younger attend for free.  Cops’n’Kids will hand out free books.

Judy brings magic and mischief to life on March 20th at 2 pm at Godfrey Daniels.  Children all ages will enjoy Judy’s engaging storytelling.  Admission is $4.50 and children five years old and younger attend free. Cops’n’Kids hand out free books.
