West Park Arts Fest

Members of the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild – including Denise McCormack –  and of Patchwork, a Philly based storytelling group, will tell during the West Park Cultural Centers Arts Fest on June 3, 2107 from 12 noon to 5 pm.  This event will take place in West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, PA.

Story Circle

The monthly Story Circle happens on May 10th at 7:30 pm at Godfrey Daniels, 7 East 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.  A workshop will precede this month’s Story Circle.  The event is free and open to all.

Telling Stories Outside Your Culture Workshop

Rob Aptaker provides guidelines for telling the essential stories from other cultures in this part of the Story Circle Workshop series.  The workshop will be held at Godfrey Daniels on May 10th at 6 pm and will be followed, after a short break, by the monthly Story Circle at 7:30 pm.  This event is Free.

Rob will cover the following concepts;

  • When you borrow something valuable from someone, treat it with more care than you would with your own valuables.
  • The importance of checking in with people from the cultures whose stories you’re borrowing.
  • Where creativity and inspiration DO have their place.
  • Pointers from traditional teachers.
  • Q & A to follow.

Ingrid Bohn – 10th Annual Cops’n’Kids Celebration of Reading

Ingrid Bohn will tell tales at Cops’n’Kids Annual Celebration of Reading at 12:15 pm.

The event starts at 11 am and continues until 3 pm at Northampton Community College Fowler Family South Side Center, 511 E 3rd St, Bethlehem, PA 18015  on April 22nd.  Ingrid’s energetic stories begin at 12:15 pm.

Robin Reichert – Critters and Creatures

Robin Reichert weaves the wonders of the natural world into everything she does.  Gather round as she shares the adventures of critters of all kinds.  Robin will tell her tales at Godfrey Daniels Listening Club (7 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, PA 18015) on March 19th at 2 pm.  Her stories will surprise, delight and enlighten listeners of all ages.  Cops’n’Kids will hand out FREE books.  Children ages 5 and under attend for free.

Fairy Tales EXPOSED with Chris Ochs

Everything You Know about Fairy Tales is WRONG – a talk by Chris Ochs.

“We’ll look at the origins, meanings and evolution of icons from fairy tales. Then compare them against their curious, funny and often GRISLY counterparts throughout history, smashing several childhood icons along the way.
