Humorous Tales from Native America with Teller Rob Aptaker

January 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join Rob Aptaker as he shares Humorous Tales from Native America. An enduring stereotype of the first people of America is that of stoic, laconic — but noble — stony faced folk.  Rob Aptaker will share traditional Native American stories that give the lie to this false image.  Human and animal tricksters abound in these stories.  Some of the tales are ‘laugh out loud’ funny, while others display a wry subtle humor that reflects the foibles of he human condition.  Rob will share these stories on January 19th at 2 pm at Godfrey Daniels, 7 East 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015, when he shares the foolish, the madcap and the slapstick stories of local tribes.

For more than 40 years, Rob Aptaker has visited and learned from Native People all over what is now North America.  He shares their stories, songs and traditional teachings with audiences at schools, museums, libraries and Girl and Boy Scout gatherings.  An educator as well as a raconteur, he also presents educational programs about pre-colonial Native American life.   Rob holds a masters degree in secondary education and is an avid nature enthusiast, wild mushroom forager, and fisherman. He also cultivates gourmet organic shiitake mushrooms.  Most days he can be found at Circle of Seasons Charter School in Fogelsville where he works with students from first through eight grade.

This program is part of the Family Series produced by the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild and Godfrey Daniels.

This program will last an hour.

$5.50 for everyone six and up. Children 5 and younger attend for free.
