Holiday Tales

Storytellers never take a holiday.  If our mouths are busy eating or singing or brushing our teeth, we are watching and listening and gathering the threads for a newly woven story.  The Winter holidays are absolutely the best time to pull together stories.  So much is going on!  We learn so much about our cultures and our families and ourselves in the way we handle all the hustle and bustle of this time of year. Oh, the horror continues!  It spreads everywhere.  On October 24th at 6:30 pm, Charles Kiernan and Judy England-McCarthy continue the campaign of horrible tales and frightening vignettes at the Whitehall Township Public Library, 3700 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall, PA 18052. A Hoppin’ Halloween at the South Side branch of BAPL

Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild and Southside Branch of Bethlehem Area Public Library, 400 Webster Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015,  present A Hoppin’ Halloween, featuring Ingrid Bohn and Denise McCormack, a night of stories and other ditties to celebrate a favorite seasonal tradition. This program is recommended for ages 6 and up, but everyone is welcome.  It all happens on October 23rd at 6:30 pm.  This event is free and open to the public.

NJ Storytelling Festival 2018 – Robin, Ingrid, Denise, MaryAnn, Judy and MORE!

On Saturday, September 15th, storytellers from throughout New Jersey and the Tri-State area convene at Howell Living History Farm to regale visitors with a whole new crop of stories from noon – 6 pm, for the New Jersey Storytelling Festival. Frightful Nights all over the Valley

Forget pumpkin spice.  The only pumpkins we’re interested in are Jack-o-Lanterns, those glowing grimaces designed to scare evil spirits on the Eve of All Saints’ Day – Hallow E’en.  The History Channel shares the story of Stingy Jack – supposedly the first maker of jack-o-lanterns.   Imagine trying to carve a face into a potato or a turnip!  Those were the very first jack-o-lanterns.  Praise be for pumpkins and their cavernous insides.  Flickering candles cast shadow faces on the walls as {Read More}
